It’s been so long!😩 But I’m still here and tired. So, in honor of me being too out-of-it to do my hair this week, here’s a quick tutorial for my attempt at a sleek bun.
What You'll Need
Kinky hair. If you have silky hair and try this I’m going to be mad because you’re going to come out with an actual sleek bun.🙄
Your fave gel that truly holds. I use Eco Styler Olive Oil - hold 10. I need it. My hair is the definition of having a mind of its own.
1-2 rubber bands with no metal on them. If you don’t know that the metal pulls your hair out by now, I don’t know where you’ve been since 2010.
Possibly bobby pins. I’ve been too lazy to go get bobby pins this week, though, and I’m out so I’ve been slaying with what I have. Therefore, you can too.
Let's Get It
Wet your hair, if you need, for easy flexibility. If you don’t need to wet your hair, I’m questioning whether you’re really a kinky chick.😒
Part your hair as desired.
Detangle as needed. You shouldn’t need to fully detangle because your hair’s going right back into a pony tail.
Apply gel until hair is completely smoothed and laid as desired. I like for my hair, especially my edges, to be laid before I put the rubber bands on because that means I won’t have to depend on the tightness of the pointy tail to hold my hair down. That’s too tight. Plus that means the gel is strong enough for me.💪🏾
Holding your ponytail as stable as possible, wrap the rubber bands around the pony tail 2-3 times, or more if needed to hold it tight enough.
Smooth the hair hanging out of the pony tail down with gel.
Now here you can either twist and wrap the rest of your pony tail around the rubber bands and pin it down however you like it, or you can do use LMM (Lazy Mallory Method): twist the end of your pony tail and tuck that bad boy into the rubber bands to hold it for days!
What's your go-to lazy hair style?
