I recently had the pleasure of starting off the I Am Blog Interview series by interviewing the wonderfully amazing Miss Texas American Beauty Plus. Tiesha Robinson is definitely flourishing as a rose from the concrete. But don't take my word for it. Read her personal bio and check out our full-of-charisma interview.
I am a Poet/Speaker and Women's Activist and, even though I've had various situations that added to my process of becoming, one situation that comes to mind immediately is when I was about 26. I was living out of my car and looking for an apartment. I had such a difficult time due to my previous evictions and credit. I had to deal with the fact that no matter how I tried to explain it or empathize with it, I was in this situation because of me, and it hurt. With all resources exhausted I was denied for the 6th time with no home and my car getting ready to be repossessed. I opened my bible and it went directly to Proverbs 14:1 " A wise woman builds her home and a foolish one tears it down with her own hands." Weeping, I asked myself how long will I remain foolish? Ignorance may be bliss, but it was killing me! In that moment I decided to be a women who builds. I promised myself and God I will build my friends, my family, my home, my health, my finances, and my faith. I choose to be [intentional] with my interactions, prayers and readings. The process of building is not easy, but definitely worth it. I am a women who builds.
Isn't she wise? Feel free to share how this interview affected you. What did you take from it?
